Spring break New Zealand 🇳🇿 style:

Queenstown: the birthplace of bungee jumping, jet boats and canyon swings.

Milford Sound: considered a most beautiful fjord in the world and a kayakers’ dream.

Wanaka: Roy’s Peak, some of the best tramping (that’s local talk for hiking) around.

Franz Josef Glacier: one of the worlds largest glaciers, accessible by helicopter only and famous for ice hiking. Latch on those crampons!

TranzAlpine Express: iconic train journey from Greymouth to Christchurch.

And Christchurch: beautiful gardens, the George Hotel and a culture of its own.

I didn’t anticipate my first post from New Zealand to be a condemnation of the ideology of hate. But it is. A small, tranquil beautiful country is in mourning today. It’s evident all around.

I always advise my clients to be prepared for something to go wrong during travels. Because it will. From taxis going on strike, to a misspelled name on your arrival sign, to a guide arriving late or not at all, to the wrong bedding in your hotel room. Travel is real life and stuff happens. Unfortunately this horrific terrorist attack is real life too. And while I am mentally prepared for mishaps along the way this one really ticks me off. It’s heavy and maddening and cowardly.

Please keep New Zealand, the innocent victims and their families, in your prayers.
